At the heart of Acton-Boxborough is a forward-looking vision: developing engaged, well-balanced learners through collaborative, caring relationships. Our Office of Teaching & Learning brings that vision to life by equipping educators with the tools, standards, and professional learning needed to create dynamic, inclusive, and emotionally supportive classrooms for all learners. 

As the district embarks on A-B Forward: Shaping Our Future Together strategic planning process, our office supports innovation in teaching and learning that aligns with goals around engaged learning, inclusive practices, equitable outcomes, and social-emotional development.

Together, we’re nurturing a learning culture where students feel welcomed, known, and valued and where educators have the resources to ignite curiosity, foster resilience, and support every learner’s journey.

Gabrielle Abrams, Ed.D.

Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning

Serving as the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Gabrielle oversees and guides the district's instructional programs and initiatives. This includes supporting educators’ delivery and understanding of the standards through collaborative long-range and short-range planning, learning of content, reflection on practice, assessment, and implementation of instructional practices. Gabrielle is also responsible for professional learning, including the Beginning Teachers Support Program and research and development, entitlement and competitive grants, and homeschooling.

As the Director of Educational Technology, my primary mission is to ensure that our digital tools serve as a catalyst for student growth. Heather supports the district's vision of integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics to create meaningful, interdisciplinary learning experiences. By partnering with educators across grade levels, she helps design innovative opportunities that foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem solving, inspiring students to become curious, confident, and engaged learners.

Heather leads the district's comprehensive approach to social-emotional learning and mental and behavioral health, ensuring students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally. By partnering with educators, families, and community organizations, she helps develop integrated systems of care, promotes student wellness and belonging, and fosters inclusive learning environments where every student can build resilience, thrive, and reach their full potential.

Debbie provides comprehensive administrative support to the Office of Teaching and Learning, helping to ensure the efficient coordination of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning initiatives. Serving as a key resource for staff, families, and district leaders, the Executive Assistant manages day-to-day operations while supporting the department's mission to advance high-quality teaching and learning for all students.

Maryann leads the district's Multilingual Education program, ensuring multilingual learners have equitable access to high-quality instruction while developing English language proficiency and academic success.
