Congratulations!

Congratulations to our 13 Massachusetts Association of Mathematics League (MAML) finalists, one semi-finalist, and Coach Bill Noeth. The 13 finalists will receive certificates from the MAML. Best of luck to the 13 students who will take the second-level contest examination in February!

January Holiday

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the United States marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year. Born in 1929, King's actual birthday is January 15th.  Martin Luther King Jr. was a social activist and Baptist minister who played a key role in the American civil rights movement from the mid-1950s until 1968.

AB Forward Update

Last night, the school committee heard presentations on Teaching and Learning and Special Education as part of the remaining options for reorganization.  The school committee also heard expanded public comments about the AB Forward options, and deliberated on both the structures in options 4 and 5v2, as well as potential enrollment models.

You can watch the full meeting on Acton TV’s YouTube Channel.

The school committee is scheduled to vote on the AB Forward Option and enrollment model at its next meeting on January 22, 2025.

FY27 Superintendent’s Preliminary Budget Presentation

I will be presenting our FY27 Preliminary Budget at the January 22 School Committee meeting. Our School Committee will hold a Budget Workshop on Monday, February 9, in the Administration Building from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. You are welcome to attend in person at the ABRSD Auditorium or view the workshop on Acton TV.

School Visits

As part of our continued commitment to open communication and to building strong, meaningful connections between students and district leadership, I had the pleasure of meeting with the fifth- and sixth-grade students from Blanchard Elementary earlier this week. We had an engaging conversation about what they love most about school and what they would change. The students loved the new playground, and I would like to give a big shoutout to all of the community members who contributed to making that project happen!
