We want to share our sincere appreciation for the generosity shown by our community during this year’s AB Resource Center Holiday Gift Drive. We are equally grateful to the volunteers whose donations, time, and dedication brought this effort to life.  Through this collective support, we were able to gather an abundance of toys, clothing, and essential items, helping to brighten the holidays for 92 families and 206 children with comfort, joy, and care.

December Holidays

Hanukkah-December 14, 2025 - December 22, 2025

Although the exact dates change every year, this is because Hanukkah is always on the 25th day of Kislev in the Hebrew calendar. Hanukkah, or the Festival of Lights, celebrates the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after its defilement by the Syrian Greeks in 164 BCE.

Christmas-December 25

This holiday is celebrated on the same date every year. Christmas, a holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus. During the Middle Ages, Christmas became extremely popular, and various liturgical celebrations of the holiday were established.

Orthodox Christmas-January 7, 2026

This holiday is based on the Julian calendar, which predates the Gregorian calendar commonly used today.

Kwanzaa-December 26-January 1

This holiday is celebrated on the same days every year. Kwanzaa is an annual holiday affirming African family and social values that is celebrated primarily in the United States

School Visits

As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering open communication and strengthening connections between students and district leadership, I had the pleasure of meeting with Douglas Elementary fifth- and sixth-grade students last week. We had an engaging conversation about the new ELA curriculum.

It was wonderful to visit the high school last week, highlighted by enjoying delicious latkes prepared by students from our Jewish Student Union. The event was a celebration of community, culture, and student leadership, and it was a pleasure to spend time with our students and share in the experience.
