Early Childhood Registration

Carol P. Huebner Preschool, the ABRSD Early Childhood Program

2022-2023 Application Information

Thank you for your interest in the Carol Huebner Early Childhood Program!  The early childhood program serves children ages 3 to 5 years old and will be housed in the brand new Boardwalk Campus School located in West Acton.  The early childhood program is an integrated learning environment; children who are developing typically and those with identified special education needs learn side by side. The curriculum is based on developmentally appropriate practices and the MA Curriculum Frameworks encouraging the growth of each child at his or her own individual pace. Our program is a fun place to play and learn!

For the 2022-2023 school year CHECP is scheduled to move from its current locations at the Administration Building and the Blanchard School to the new Boardwalk Campus School that is being constructed in West Acton.  Despite the pandemic the building is still on schedule to open for the Fall of 2022.  While our planning is to start the school year at the Boardwalk Campus School, if there are any changes to this projected timeline due to construction delays we will do our best to communicate any delays as soon as possible.

Children living in Acton or Boxborough are eligible to apply and attend the program based on space availability.  Applications are available on-line or by emailing Corinne DiPietro in the Special Education Office. Completed applications should be returned via email to [email protected] or via mail to: Carol Huebner Early Childhood Program Office, Administration Building, 15 Charter Rd in Acton.

Given the anticipated number of applications expected for September, admission for new students will occur through a lottery. Please submit applications between January 3rd and February 16th for inclusion in the lottery.  Applications must be submitted by 4pm on February 16th.  The lottery will occur on February 17th and parents will be informed by the first week of March of the results. Students who do not gain admittance through the lottery will be added to the waitlist. No applications will be accepted prior to January 3rd. Depending on the status of the pandemic and health and safety metrics, visits to the program may be arranged at a later date.

Children must be three years old by September 1st to enroll. We are currently projecting all classes to meet four days per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.  The hours are expected to be 8:30–11:15 and 12:15-3:00 for half day sessions; 8:30-3:00 for full day sessions.  Times could be adjusted slightly due to district-wide schedule changes.  We understand that any change could create scheduling conflicts, so we will do our best to communicate any anticipated time changes as soon as possible.

Parents are responsible for providing transportation for their children. The full tuition rate for the program is currently $3650 for half day and $7070 for full day. Information about a sliding fee scale is available upon request. Tuition can be paid in full or over ten months. Deposits to secure seats are required by June 1st. When students gain admittance through the lottery process, families will be notified with instructions on how to proceed with pre-registration.

If you have any questions, please contact Corinne DiPietro at 978-264-4700 x3948, [email protected] or email me at [email protected] . We look forward to working with you and your child.
